Writing a Choose Your Own Adventure Game
Certainly writing is challenging: you need things like plots, character development, thorough research into anything from which flowers blossom at which time of year, to the sort of weapons related matters that might result in some very serious men knocking at your door. But is it really enough? Have you ever wished, not just to paint a picture for your readers, but to plonk them in the midst of the action and let them wander into however many dangers and traps you choose to throw at them? If, like me, you’re a power-hungry sadist who spent large chunks of childhood drawing maps for Legend of Zelda and the like, then writing a Choose Your Own Adventure game might just be the answer.
For anyone unfamiliar with the concept, these game books are written in small sections which end by giving the reader a choice of actions which move them on to different parts of the book. In a regular paper book, they’d do this by flicking through the pages, but with an e-book, they just have t

Witches and Bandits and Swords (Oh My)
This is a choose your own adventure style fantasy game. Please see comments for more details...
The plan was simple enough, or at least should have been. Back in your homeland, you and your friends had a great idea to make enough money for you to live like royalty (in terms of wealth, at least, putting on a posh accent and wearing silly clothes would be entirely up to you). Hearing of vast fortunes to be made in the exotic Westlands you took the decision to pool all your resources into one great expedition. Your cargo of herbs and spices were commonplace back home, but overseas they would sell for a vast fortune. At least they would have done had they got there. Three days into your voyage, you sailed around the north of the continent of Meir with the weather conditions against you. The treacherous coast and stormy weather made life difficult enough but things became even worse when a sleek vessel with a black flag was spotted moving stealthily through the volatile

Dom Party Manifesto 2009
Greetings Comrades. This is a message from your Supreme Leader, Dom; pay close attention to my wise and learned counsel. It has been brought to my notice that, despite the stagnation of the major parties of the United Kingdom, and the poor state of our economy, we in the Dom Party are failing to turn this into profitable election results. This situation will not stand, Comrades and I aim to tackle the biggest underlying problems of our organisation. I have summed these up for your perusal;
1, We have no elected Members of Parliament, nor local councillors.
2, We have never stood for election for any office.
3, We have no money.
4, We only have one member- and he is currently wondering whether his time would be better spent making a cup of tea and curling up in bed with a Bill Bryson book.
While the money issue could be slightly improved if I could be bothered to go to the bank and get real money for the shoe-box full of loose change I possess, it is now that I intend to solve a

Janezy's Contest Entry
The catacombs were alive, sinking into every inch of the place little Tommy called home. Everyday, he checked under his bed, twice, for signs of life – a few discarded bones, perhaps, or a horrible decaying stench. There was nothing.
Tommy's mother told him to stop imagining things, although she was proud of such an inventive, imaginative child. She used to brag about him to her friends as they drank coffee with their little fingers sticking in the air. Manhattan's finest.
Tommy was in the best prep school New York had to offer. In this environment of rationality, excellence and achievement, they knew better than to believe in the supernatural. Only Tommy could see the withered hands of the mummified bodies that stretched after him, grasping at him like a curse.
That wasn't the worst thing.
He could deal with the dry, stinking air that gushed from the crack in his closet door; he could handle the jittering taps and knocks of phantom grave robbers, clinking somewhere in another dim

Happy New Year!

Journal Entry: Wed Jan 9, 2013, 12:19 PM
Happy New Year!

And, hopefully, a new start. Since my job ran out in December I've pretty much just been relaxing and visiting my family in Stoke for Christmas. Now it's January, I should probably get on with stuff, not least dA which I tend to neglect for long periods and then find a bit overwhelming with hundreds of messages to sort out. I've decided to reset this to zero and, hopefully, become more active again.

Hasn't been a bad 2012 really. As well as having a short story published in paperback for the first time ever (Yappy the Happy Squirrel as part of the Bizarro Press compilation 'Tall Tales With Short Cocks'), I got a Daily Deviation for dA Monopoly and released my first novel, 'Shadowed' (available on Amazon or as a free chapter extract ) which has sold steadily, if not spectacularly. Still, it's all part of the learning process.

For 2013, I'm hoping to release a free Kindle book of a Fantasy Game project which I started a while back, and am now getting through at an unusually fast pace . Apart from that, I'm trying to concentrate on giving myself a set routine to write stuff, comment on dA, sort my blog out, advertise etc. I'll probably also need another one of those 'job' things before I run out of money- even though they just get in the way of more important stuff like writing :XD: Hope you're all well.

Peace and

Hello. Are you from Doom?
redruM-110 Featured By Owner Sep 24, 2016   Writer
Hi, yes! I downloaded Zdaemon roughly a week ago and have found myself getting battered (albeit in a fun and nostalgic way) ever since :D

Ok. Would download Zandronum? Another Doom Source port. Do you also play other games?
redruM-110 Featured By Owner Sep 30, 2016   Writer
I'm having fun playing Doom again, thanks, but Zdaemon's enough for me, really- I always get battered anyway! I used to play Red Crucible 2 a lot, if you've heard of that? Sadly they got rid of it and replaced it with a worse version.

Hello! :iconexcitedhiplz:

:la: Welcome to :iconwriters--club:! :la:

We're glad to have you as a member and look forward to seeing your contributions! :typerhappy:

We also hold a lot of contests with great prizes, so keep your eye out for them! We are currently preparing for our fourth annual writing tournament, the details will be announced in the group journal soon.

Additionally, we also hold monthly features for published authors. If you have published any of your writing in a manner in which it can be purchased online, please send a note to the group so we can arrange to feature you!

We also have a Critique Program for our members to submit to and receive detailed feedback on their work from our admin team. :D

We’re also helping to promote a program called Synergy, which is hosted by our affiliate, #Live-Love-Write. The Synergy program is designed to provide participants with somebody they can count on for help and readership. Participants are assigned in pairs and each member will tutor, inspire, critique, and help each other. Pairs will also be given a monthly challenge to collaborate together on; we keep the assignments manageable so they can be fun all the time. Signups will reopen in the beginning of November! :la:
